The exhibition of Villa Arson graduates is an effervescent artistic event each year that invites the public to explore the worlds, research and work of some twenty artists at the end of their course. The Villa Arson, national school of art and art center, built on the Saint-Barthélémy hill, and the gallery of the Navy, located on the seaside, invite these young graduate artists to compare their work with regard to the audience and critics.

For the sixth consecutive year, this exhibition will give rise to the presentation of the Prize for young contemporary creation, awarded to two winners by the Venet Foundation and the City of Nice.

This event takes the form of an exhibition system in two parts taking place simultaneously and which are designed as complementary. The selection of works presented in a collective hanging in the space of the Galerie de la Marine finds a counterpoint at the Villa Arson, with an exhibition of variable geometry unfolding in the spaces and workshops of the art school. This exhibition sets out to show the diversity of artistic practices and mediums implemented by artists who trained and lived, for the most part, for five years in Nice, exploring and appropriating this territory in various ways. It allows in particular to reveal a richness, a diversity of reflections and inventions which, for these young artists, represent so many ways of living and thinking about art today.

This project is to be re-invented each year and gives rise to the invitation of a curator who designs and produces the exhibition in collaboration with the artists of the promotion.
After Jean-Marc Avrilla, Stéphane Corréard and Frédéric Bonnet, this year Benjamin Laugier, in charge of the public department at the New National Museum of Monaco, was entrusted with this curatorial office.
A work of exchanges and construction of the exhibition has begun between the young artists and this curator. The choice of works, modes and forms of hanging for this Odyssey will only be revealed in the final stretch. The nature and the particular temporality of this exhibition also give it all its singularity.

With the works of Mathieu Alary, Rémi Amiot, Benoit Barbagli, Néphéli Barbas, Jeanne Berbinau Aubry, Gillian Brett, Julie Buffard-Moret, Baptiste Carluy, Junkai Chen, Brice Courtès, Solène Doually, Maxime Duveau, Helena Gouveia Monteiro, Magali Halter, Lucie Henault, Florence Lattraye, Juliette Liautaud, Marie Ouazzani, David Perreard, Jérémy Piette, Omar Rodriguez, Iommy Sanchez, Raphaël Schwarz, Lola Taillefer, Aude van Wyller

Curator: Benjamin Laugier

“Maze of workshops, exhibition halls and terraces, it is by getting lost that it is the most pleasant to apprehend the Villa Arson. When I was invited to curate the 2015 graduates’ exhibition, it was therefore as a “loafing curator” that it seemed natural to me to respond.
Listen and observe, through encounters, artists whose approaches are singular and share these discoveries. Becoming a traveling companion as Federico Ferrari defines it in his text “Accomplice dell’artista”, a partner for a while.
In its section at the Galerie de la Marine, it is a polyphony that will be played through a scenographic device which, like a cabinet, will offer to discover the many works that make up this set, while at the Villa Arson, a succession of exhibitions will unfold like a leporello. »
